Forest Glen’s Tziki Bar : A review.

Visited September, 2024

On an impromptu date, my love and I find ourselves having dinner with Poseidon, the Greek God, at Tziki Bar. We are greeted at the door, warmly and given a choice of where to sit in the industrial shed - meets brewery - meets graffiti gallery - meets garden, even though we do not have a booking.

I sit facing the two-storey tall, spray painted, buff, and mighty Poseidon. My love faces me and the long billowy curtains, which accentuate the sheer height of the building whilst cutting the car park view. Food envy finds me quickly as a nearby table orders the dessert tasting plate ($18). Three perfectly poised cakes teasing me from across the room.

To start, we share the Poseidon pizza ($32) - puffy pizza crust, prawns, and Kalamata olives. It’s served on an obnoxious tower, which would wow any child. We are respectfully given time to savour the flavours as well as our conversation. Drinks are topped up before our mains are brought. The melt-in-my-mouth lamb shoulder ($42) and the roast cauliflower salad ($15) with pomegranate complement each other beautifully, adding crispy sweetness and colour to my plate.

I can forgive the tin plateware the Greek fries($12) come in as they are crunchy and humbly seasoned with lemon and flavours of the Mediterranean. All delicious! Over cocktails ($21) and frothy brews ($10) our rare time to connect outside of home life is well spent, talking and dining. I can’t wait to go back and take my fellow foodie sister. I could eat my way through the menu, everything sounds like a must try.

Next time…I think we’ll start with dessert first.
